What you’re looking at is a lighter that was first introduced in 1926. This model was extremely popular in America until the era of mass-production hit and cheaper alternatives could be found in abundance. Instead of allowing the Douglass Lighter to become lost to time, a collection of Japanese craftsmen revived the storied flame maker. The Douglass Field L is a durable lighter ready for inclement weather. A series of O-rings keep water from getting in and your fluid from evaporating quickly. A spare flint is hidden inside the cap to the fuel chamber. Built from solid stainless steel, it’s also one of the most attractive lighters we’ve ever come across.
