Hobo nickels are tiny pieces of art that people have been crafting for centuries. Using small-denomination coins as a canvas, artists carve small, attractive tokens to carry with them on their journeys. Because of the size and the cost, the idea became popular among hobos for many years in the States, giving the coins their name. Here, artist Shane Hunter has contributed a little of that American history to an iconic American product, the Zippo lighter. The Hobo Nickel Zippo features an incredible representation of the artform soldered to the front of the brushed brass lighter. Each Zippo was then oxidized for a look truly its own. Carry one with you as you traverse the country.
